Douglass is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Monday. They will look to defend their home field against the Riverdale Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Douglass will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Douglass is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Drew Charter 17-11 on Monday.
Tymeco Cameron made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Cameron was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. That double was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Jamarius Glover was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Aareon Alexander, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Douglass kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Riverdale, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Jonesboro on Monday, sneaking past 6-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Joel Rachmann made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Rachmann was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tristan Ford, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Jacob Rachmann was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one double.
Riverdale's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Douglass, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Riverdale's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Douglass has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Riverdale, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Douglass' sizable advantage in that area, the Raiders will need to find a way to close that gap.
Douglass couldn't quite get it done against Riverdale when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 5-0. Can the Astros avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
