The JW North Huskies will take on the Jurupa Valley Jaguars at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. JW North is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
JW North came into this matchup off a tough seven-run loss on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Citrus Hill by a score of 5-3 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Huskies have suffered since April 12, 2024.
JW North saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Sanchez, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Another was Nicolas Zepeda, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Jurupa Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over Norte Vista on Thursday. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Daniel Robles looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Francisco Urena, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Jurupa Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Martinez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Jurupa Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norte Vista struck out ten times.
Jurupa Valley's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for JW North, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. JW North has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Jurupa Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
