Union Grove came out on top against Locust Grove  on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp  9-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won 13 games by seven  runs or more  so far this season.
 Alisha Cattuzzo tossed a big game,   tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in three consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Lauren Jordan was  excellent,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with two  stolen bases and two  runs. She is  on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as she's  now  snagged  at least one in each of the last three games she's  played. Another player making a difference was  Ally Franklin, who  went 2-for-3 with two  RBI and one  run.
 Union Grove  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters  in 13 consecutive  matchups.
Union Grove has  been performing  well recently as they've  won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Locust Grove, their defeat  ended  a  five-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 12-8.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union Grove will square off against McIntosh at 6:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chiefs have averaged an impressive 7.2  runs per game this season. As for Locust Grove, they will take on Pike County at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7  runs per game  this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
