DCP Alum Rock scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 36-10 margin over Latino College Preparatory Academy. That 36-10 margin sets a new team best for DCP Alum Rock this season.
DCP Alum Rock got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Estrella Sanchez out in front who scored nine points along with eight steals and six assists. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Munguia, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit, who are still winless after their fifth match. They took a serious blow against Summit Shasta two weeks ago, falling 71-42. While losing is never fun, Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1170th, while Summit Shasta is ranked 405th).
The victory got DCP Alum Rock back to even at 4-4. As for Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-5.
DCP Alum Rock was taken down by Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit 61-31 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can DCP Alum Rock avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
