Basketball Recap: Rancho Cotate Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

Rancho Cotate saw some tournament action on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 65-51 victory over the Anderson Cubs. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

It was another big night for Daniela Campos, who made all 10 shots she took for 25 points along with five assists and five boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabella Scardina, who made all 6 shots she took to post 12 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Campos wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Rancho Cotate was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anderson only racked up eight assists.

Despite the loss, Anderson still got an impressive performance from Taylor Ford, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 23 boards. That was a full 52.9% of Anderson's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Payten Ford, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Rancho Cotate has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Anderson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Rancho Cotate wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-54 win against Santa Rosa on the 3rd. As for Anderson, they will face off against University Prep at 6:00 p.m. on January 7th. One thing working in University Prep's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.
