Alex Perez made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Conner Akers, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Waldron had to endure an 11-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Morristown on Friday as they made off with a 15-8 win. The Mohawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.
Hunter Dodson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Dodson was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April.
In other batting news, Jackson Kuhn was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Waldron: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Everette, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Waldron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive games.
Irvington Preparatory Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Waldron, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Irvington Preparatory Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Waldron struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
