If the Carmel Padres were riding high off their 41-14 takedown of the Santa Catalina Cougars on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Carmel's tough 41-16 loss to Notre Dame on Saturday might stick with them for a while. Carmel was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Notre Dame apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Carmel lost, one person who can't be blamed is Chloe LeMaster. Despite the final result, she scored 6 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Savanna Radowicz, who scored 0 points along with 7 rebounds.
Notre Dame's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aveena Ducusin, who scored 19 points along with 7 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Ducusin has scored at least 25% of Notre Dame's points. Francesca Rossi was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds.
Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Notre Dame, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carmel will take on St. Francis at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully St. Francis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Monday. As for Notre Dame, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Rancho San Juan at 7:00 p.m. on December 4th. Rancho San Juan has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.
