Take Sato-Kreis looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, Aiden Tavares was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of George Schmitt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Foothill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Dougherty Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Saint Mary's.
Dougherty Valley also got a good showing from Nicholas Johnson, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Dougherty Valley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Robbins, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Dougherty Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Foothill, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
Dougherty Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Foothill hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. It's a different story for Dougherty Valley, though, as they've only averaged .150. Will they be able to contain Foothill's hitters?
Everything went Foothill's way against Dougherty Valley in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Foothill made off with a 20-4 win. Will Foothill repeat their success, or does Dougherty Valley has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
