There's no place like home for the Oceanside Pirates, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 42-31 victory over San Dieguito Academy on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Oceanside also won the last time the pair played on January 9th.
Oceanside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aubrey Madden, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Madden is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Nalia Nuanez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Oceanside's win bumped their record up to 15-6. As for San Dieguito Academy, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oceanside will square off against Sage Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sage Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Tuesday. As for San Dieguito Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Torrey Pines at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Torrey Pines presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than San Dieguito Academy in California (Torrey Pines is ranked 280th, while San Dieguito Academy is ranked 643rd).
