The Gunn Titans couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 45-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Castilleja on Tuesday. Gunn lost against Castilleja in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 41-31 score last time.
Antonia Vlahos was a one-man wrecking crew for Castilleja as she scored 31 points along with 9 steals and 7 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Vlahos has scored at least 25% of Castilleja's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Gallon, who scored 8 points.
Gunn's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Castilleja, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Gunn will be playing in front of their home fans against Prospect at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Castilleja will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Novato at 12:00 p.m. on December 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Novato is ranked 448th, while Castilleja is ranked 434th).
