Charlie Stearns tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on George Schmitt, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2024. Hudson Flora was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Foothill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as James Logan only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Berkeley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over Oakland Tech on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.
Quinton Hill made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Sasha Spahr looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low.
Back at the plate, Berkeley got a big performance out of Isaiah Mays, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Miles Mino, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
The win got Berkeley back to even at 1-1. As for Foothill, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0.
