The Galesburg Silver Streaks will square off against the Dunlap Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The last five games Galesburg has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Wednesday, Galesburg didn't have quite enough to beat Moline and fell 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Silver Streaks in their meetings with the Maroons: they've now lost five in a row.
Caden Riley was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.
On the hitting side, Alfred Ayala was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Dunlap came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Little Giants.
Ryder Rennette was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.
Galesburg's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Dunlap, their win bumped their record up to 19-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Galesburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Dunlap struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Galesburg couldn't quite get it done against Dunlap in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 as they fell 9-4. Will the Silver Streaks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
