The Eagle Mustangs will take on the Timberline Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Eagle is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Eagle is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 53-6 victory over Borah. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho football rankings (they are ranked third, while the Lions are ranked 39th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
NOAH BURNHAM continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 215 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, while also picking up 71 receiving yards and three TDs. Another player making a difference was AUSTIN RAMSEY, who threw for 171 yards and four touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Eagle was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 347 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Timberline hadn't done well against Rocky Mountain recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wolves came out on top against the Grizzlies by a score of 31-20.
Eagle better keep an eye on Jack Brant. He was instrumental in Timberline's win, throwing for 260 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 33 yards. A healthy portion of Brant's aerial production (100 yards to be exact) went to Hudson Lewis.
Eagle's record now sits at 8-0. As for Timberline, their record is now 7-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Eagle has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 227.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Timberline struggles in that department as they've been averaging 155.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything went Eagle's way against Timberline in their previous matchup back in October of 2021, as Eagle made off with a 32-10 win. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
