Morrow and M.L. King are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Morrow comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Morrow's offense. They came up short against Landmark Christian on Thursday, falling 16-0.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when M.L. King and Stephenson meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Lions put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 17-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won three games by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Evan Fulks made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025. He was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kaleb Scott was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brandon Ray, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
M.L. King always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stephenson only posted an OBP of .360.
Morrow's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for M.L. King, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Morrow got the 'W' when the teams last played back in February of 2025 against M.L. King by a conclusive 10-2 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
