After flying high against the Patrick Henry Patriots on Tuesday, the Montgomery Aztecs came back down to earth. Montgomery was the victim of a tough 69-43 loss at the hands of Democracy Prep Agassi Campus on Wednesday. Montgomery found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post ten fewer assists than your opponent.
Montgomery's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paula Zumstein, who scored 18 points along with 4 blocks. The match was Zumstein's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Whitehead, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Bray'ana Miles was on fire for Democracy Prep Agassi Campus: she dropped a double-double on 23 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zha'Nina Burrell, who scored 7 points along with 10 rebounds.
Montgomery's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Democracy Prep Agassi Campus, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Montgomery's road trip will continue as they head out to face Westview at 8:00 p.m. on November 30th. Westview presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Montgomery in California (Westview is ranked 32nd, while Montgomery is ranked 214th). Democracy Prep Agassi Campus won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Seton Catholic at 2:45 p.m. on November 30th. Seton Catholic is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
