The Dixon Dukes And Duchesses are taking a road trip to take on the North Boone Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Dixon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
Dixon came out on top against Coal City on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Dukes And Duchesses sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Coalers.
Jake Zepezauer was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Exadrian Diaz and Eli Kirchhoff did most of the damage at the plate: Diaz went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Kirchhoff went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Dixon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, North Boone's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Winnebago by a score of 3-1.
North Boone saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grady Condon, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Dixon is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for North Boone, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dixon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like North Boone struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dixon came up short against North Boone in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, falling 5-2. Can the Dukes And Duchesses avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
