The St. Joseph Spartans had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.4 points), and they went ahead and made it 13 on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Jeannette 64-25 on the road. St. Joseph has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 25 points or more this season.
Julie Spinelli continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with five assists and two steals. She hasn't dropped below 15 points for 14 straight games. Gia Richter was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Jeannette's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Adriana Allison, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and five assists, and Navarah Smith who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
St. Joseph pushed their record up to 18-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Jeannette, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Joseph will challenge Riverview at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Averaging 62.9 points so far this season, St. Joseph's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Riverview better be ready for a challenge. As for Jeannette, they will head out on the road to challenge Leechburg at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Pennsylvania (Leechburg is ranked 541st, while Jeannette is ranked 531st).
