The Wood Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 86-23 win over Armijo at home. Given Wood's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 479th, while Armijo is ranked 1239th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Natalia Sanchez, who scored 29 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Sanchez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Howard, who scored 21 points along with eight steals.
Wood now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Armijo, they bumped their record down to 2-12 with that loss, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wood will play host again and welcome Vacaville, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Armijo, they will be playing at home against Fairfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
