Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Harris County's 17th in Last 18 Outings

With a playoff win on the line, Harris County rose to the challenge on Friday. Everything went their way against the Cartersville Hurricanes as they made off with a 15-3 win. Considering the Tigers have won 22 games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Chloe Wolfenbarger and Riley Huckaby made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Wolfenbarger didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Huckaby tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Wolfenbarger has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. At bat, Wolfenbarger fired off two home runs, three RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4, while Huckaby went 1-for-5 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Huckaby has posted since back in September.

In other batting news, Harris County got a massive performance out of Caroline Gatewood, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs. That's the most hits Gatewood has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Skylar Psalmond, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Harris County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cartersville only posted an OBP of .333.

Harris County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Cartersville, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 30-6.

Harris County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-1 win against Wayne County on the 31st. Cartersville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
