Last Wednesday, Athens was able to grind out a solid win over Sayre, taking the game 36-28. 36 seems to be a good number for Athens as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Wellsboro suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They were dealt a 53-26 loss at the hands of Troy. It was the first time this season that Wellsboro let down their fans at home.
Athens' win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9. As for Wellsboro, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Athens didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Wellsboro in their previous matchup two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 48-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Athens since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
