Softball Recap: Manzano's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Manzano can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against the Rio Grande Ravens by a score of 5-2. This was a revenge game for the Monarchs: when they faced off against the Ravens back in March, they had to take a 29-21 defeat.

Briana Largo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, Sophia Rios Duvall was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luna Bodella Ayala, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Manzano was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rio Grande only posted a batting average of .227.

Manzano's record is now 5-15. As for Rio Grande, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manzano will head out to take on Santa Fe at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Monarchs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Demons have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Rio Grande, they will venture away from home to face off against West Mesa at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Ravens' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
