Basketball Recap: Emma Kharchenko Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Victory Christian

There's no place like home for Futures, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They were the clear victor by a 51-31 margin over the Victory Christian Vikings on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Futures' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emma Kharchenko, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards. Kharchenko is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 14 or more in the last three games she's played. Nikole Vinokurov was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 rebounds and ten steals.

Victory Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michelle Bacchi, who posted ten points. Those ten points gave Bacchi a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Violet Cantrell, who had nine points.

Futures moved to 4-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Victory Christian, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Futures will square off against Encina at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd. As for Victory Christian, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Forest Lake Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 7th.
