Softball Recap: Valor Christian Takes a Loss

Valor Christian dropped down to 15-10 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 12-2 to the Columbine Rebels. The Eagles were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but the Rebels' pitcher proved too tough.

As for Columbine, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.

For Columbine's part, Addison Swenby tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.

At the plate, Mason Abraham was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nina Vargas, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.

Coming up, Valor Christian will take on Rock Canyon in a tournament on Saturday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season. Columbine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
