Live Oak is 0-4 against Orland since March of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Live Oak is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when Live Oak faced off against Corning on Friday. The Lions put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 8-2 victory. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by exactly six runs.

Farron Gomez and Bradley Perigo made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Gomez struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Perigo pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Live Oak is 5-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-9 otherwise. At the plate, Gomez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI, while Perigo went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. That's the most RBI Gomez has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luis Carrasco, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Live Oak's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 6-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Kaden Lee, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Orland didn't have quite enough to beat Gridley on Friday and fell 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Trojans have lost by just one run.
Orland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Schager, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Orland has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. As for Live Oak, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Orland's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Live Oak has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. It's a different story for Orland, though, as they've only averaged .361. Will they be able to contain Live Oak's hitters?
Live Oak suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Orland when the teams last played back in March of 2020. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
