Crawford is 1-9 against Kearny since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Colts will take on the Komets at 4:00 p.m. Crawford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
Crawford made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Army-Navy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Colts' pitcher stepped up to hand the Warriors a 6-0 shutout on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Colts.
Not much got past Ray Sanchez, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Army-Navy off the board. Sanchez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Crawford is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Alejandro Guzman was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Crawford: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hector Fuentes, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kearny). They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Castle Park on Monday. The Komets not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 21, 2024.
Nicolas Hembera was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Jovan Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Crawford now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Kearny, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.
Kearny's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Crawford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. It's a different story for Kearny, though, as they've only averaged .241. Will they be able to contain Crawford's hitters?
Crawford skirted past Kearny 4-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Colts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Komets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
