The Loara Saxons entered their tilt with the Santiago Cavaliers with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Loara had just enough and edged the Cavaliers out 38-35. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Loara also won the last time the pair played two weeks ago.
Loara found their leader in underclassman Sophia Rangel, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Rangel hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Laila Walker, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Loara has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. As for Santiago, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-17.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Loara will take on the Vaqueros at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rancho Alamitos will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1147th, while the Saxons are ranked 549th). As for Santiago, they will head out on the road to face off against the Lobos at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
