The Vandalia Vandals will square off against the Pana Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
Vandalia is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs last Friday, they were much more limited against Litchfield on Friday. They fell just short of the Purple Panthers by a score of 2-1.
Jack Lewis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on ten hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kohnor Depew made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Pana hadn't done well against Staunton recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Panthers walked away with a 6-1 win over the Bulldogs.
Easton Malisia made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Malisia wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carder Burris, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Madyx Angel, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Pana's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-8. As for Vandalia, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 10-8.
Vandalia came out on top in a nail-biter against Pana in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Vandals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
