Cleveland has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Providence Pioneers will round out the year against one another at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Wednesday, Cleveland was fully in charge, breezing past Thousand Oaks 66-37 at home. Given Cleveland's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while Thousand Oaks is ranked 551st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cleveland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Valerie Anzora led the charge by scoring eight points along with 17 rebounds and six steals. Anzora is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Gabriella Calderon was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Providence took their matchup at home on December 8th with ease, bagging a 48-12 victory over Moorpark.
Cleveland now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Providence, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
