The South Central Satellites scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Tri-Township on the road to the tune of 69-41. The win was some much needed relief for South Central as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
South Central was led to victory by Derek Welsh and Jay Huerta. Welsh scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and four steals, while Huerta scored 22 points along with six rebounds. Huerta is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Clayten Strauch, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Tri-Township still got an impressive performance from Dillon Stewart, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Blain Rust, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
South Central's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Tri-Township, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
South Central on the road again on Saturday and play against New Prairie at 6:30 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully New Prairie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for Tri-Township, they will be playing at home against Hammond Academy of Science & Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
