Westminster lost against Esperanza back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result  on Friday. The Lions fell  27-21 to the Aztecs. Despite 180 more yards than the Aztecs, the Lions couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
 Despite the  loss, Westminster saw an underclassman step up: freshman  Beckham Sharp threw for 298 yards and two  touchdowns, and also rushed for 32 yards.
Westminster has  been struggling recently as they've  lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record  this season. As for Esperanza, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Westminster will  take on  rival St. Margaret's  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Esperanza is set to  square off against  their familiar foe Brea Olinda  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
