After flying high against the Tulpehocken Trojans on Friday, the Brandywine Heights Area Bullets came back down to earth. Brandywine Heights Area fell 43-32 to Oley Valley on Monday. Brandywine Heights Area lost against Oley Valley in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 46-21 score last time.
Brandywine Heights Area's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Benner, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Benner pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dana Wartenluft, who scored ten points.
Brandywine Heights Area bumped their record down to 4-3 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Oley Valley, the win was the fifth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brandywine Heights Area will be home for the holidays to greet Schuylkill Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Schuylkill Valley is ranked 280th, while Brandywine Heights Area is ranked 288th). Oley Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Antietam at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Antietam comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
