Football Game Preview: North Polk Comets vs. Gilbert Tigers

North Polk is a perfect 4-0 against Gilbert since October of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Comets are taking a road trip to face off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as North Polk comes in on four and Gilbert on eight.

While North Polk's win against Carlisle wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Comets skirted past the Wildcats 38-36. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Comets' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa football rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Wildcats are ranked 78th).

Meanwhile, Gilbert was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Des Moines North 55-6. Considering the Tigers have won four matchups by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Gilbert's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for North Polk, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Everything came up roses for North Polk against Gilbert in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, as the squad secured a 28-0 victory. Do the Comets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
