The Mesa Verde Mavericks lost against the Dixon Rams back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Mesa Verde lost to Dixon at home by a decisive 42-28 margin. Mesa Verde has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Mesa Verde saw an underclassman step up: Jaiden Alexander scored three points along with 17 rebounds and two steals. Alexander is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruby Solis, who scored ten points.
Mesa Verde has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Dixon, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-12.
Mesa Verde will head out on the road to face off against Rio Linda at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Rio Linda focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Dixon, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Mira Loma at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Mira Loma is ranked 897th, while Dixon is ranked 889th).
