On Monday, the Severn School Admirals beat the Springdale Prep Lions 57-49. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Admirals.
Severn School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amyah Heyliger led the charge by going 8 for 16 en route to 20 points. Kendall Austin was another key player, going 6 of 13 on her way to 16 points in addition to five boards and three steals.
Severn School was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Springdale Prep only posted five assists.
Springdale Prep's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samayria Burrison, who went 5 for 12 en route to 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Burrison has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Zing Yinpobil, who posted eight points in addition to ten boards and four steals.
Severn School has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Springdale Prep, they moved to 17-14 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.
Severn School wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 53-46 defeat against St. John's Catholic Prep on the 29th. Springdale Prep has also already played their next contest, a 59-18 win against Saint James on the 28th.
