After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Seminole County, Pataula Charter Academy was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Byne Christian Saints 12-2. Considering the Panthers have won nine matches by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Walker Hixon made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, Pataula Charter Academy got a massive performance out of Riley Lashley, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Lashley is becoming a predictor of Pataula Charter Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Caldwell, who scored two runs and stole six bases.
Pataula Charter Academy moved to 12-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Byne Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pataula Charter Academy will venture away from home to take on Seminole County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Byne Christian, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fullington Academy at 4:30 p.m. on April 7.
