Granite Hills has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Grossmont Foothillers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Granite Hills scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 75-31 victory over Mount Miguel at home. Given Granite Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while Mount Miguel is ranked 1195th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Kerstena Tomika, who scored 32 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Fry, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Grossmont strolled past El Capitan with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 56-38.
Granite Hills is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Grossmont, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7.
Granite Hills was able to grind out a solid win over Grossmont in their previous matchup back in January, winning 33-26. The rematch might be a little tougher for Granite Hills since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
