Baseball Recap: Fairfield Has No Trouble Against West Campus

While Fairfield put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for West Campus. The Falcons put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Zach O'Reilly made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Tristen Smith was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Devin Knox, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Fairfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Fairfield is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for West Campus, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7.

Coming up, Fairfield will welcome Rodriguez at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Campus, they will take on Mesa Verde at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
