The Tulelake Honkers won the last time they faced the Surprise Valley Hornets, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Tulelake snuck past Surprise Valley with a 46-42 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Tulelake.
Tulelake's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayla Frey, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Frey has scored all season. Makenzie Perez was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Surprise Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adelia Martinez, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Martinez scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Berthea Townsend, who scored 12 points.
Tulelake's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Surprise Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Tulelake will head out on the road to square off against Butte Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Butte Valley will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Surprise Valley will take on Burney at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Burney focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
