Redding Christian fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Trojans on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 45-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans.
Meanwhile, Burney's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. Their rough 52-28 defeat to Portola might stick with them for a while. Burney has struggled against the Tigers recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Burney saw an underclassman step up: Natalia Maldonado scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Maldonado has scored all season.
Redding Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Burney, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
