Bracken County is 8-2 against Scott since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Polar Bears will welcome the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Bracken County has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Scott will arrive with three straight wins.
Campbell County hit Bracken County with a 12-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Polar Bears came up short against the Camels, falling 17-2.
Bracken County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Colvin, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Colvin has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Scott never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Newport Central Catholic as they made off with a 10-0 victory.
The result came thanks to Eli Wilson's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rylee Gribble, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainey Jones, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Scott was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .414 or higher in three consecutive games.
Bracken County's loss dropped their record down to 13-21-1. As for Scott, their win bumped their record up to 7-17.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bracken County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. However, it's not like Scott struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
