It was a good run, but the Portage Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost to River Valley at home by a decisive 46-30 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Portage has scored all season.
Loss or not, Portage got some senior leadership from Alex Chobany and Brooke Bednarksi. Chobany scored 11 points along with eight rebounds, while Bednarksi. scored six points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Burkett, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
It was another big night for Ava Persichetti, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds for River Valley. Persichetti hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was Emilee Staats, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Portage's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-2. As for River Valley, they pushed their record up to 18-5 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Portage does not have any more games scheduled as of now. River Valley also has no future games currently scheduled.
