Hernando is 0-10 against Central since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hernando Leopards will head out on the road to square off against the Central Bears at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Hernando scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 72-55 victory over Hudson. The win was just what Hernando needed coming off of a 78-39 loss in their prior contest.
Hernando's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaron Laskey, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Laskey also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Josiah Wright, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Central beat Springstead 68-64 on Tuesday.
Hernando is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. As for Central, their victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Hernando was taken down by Central 80-52 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Central's Ethan Bergantino, who dropped a triple-double on 19 points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals. Now that Hernando knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
