Claremont is 0-10 against Ayala since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Wolfpack will square off against the Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Claremont took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They came out on top against Adelanto by a score of 7-3.
Ryan Elias and Ramzey Farah did most of the damage at the plate: Elias went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Farah went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Aiden Leslie was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Ayala came tearing into Saturday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 15-6 margin over the Seahawks. Considering the Bulldogs have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Isaac Huver looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Dylan Wood was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aidan Erlandsen, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Ayala was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Ayala's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Claremont, their record is now 9-10-1.
Claremont suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Ayala in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wolfpack avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
