The Sonora Wildcats lost against the Calaveras Red Hawks back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Sonora fell to Calaveras 37-33. Sonora has struggled against Calaveras recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Sonora lost, one person who can't be blamed is Adeline Hanson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Hanson hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Taylor Faught, who scored 11 points.
Calaveras found their leader in underclassman Emma Clark, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Clark is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Emerson, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Sonora now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Calaveras, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Sonora will head out on the road to square off against Summerville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Summerville is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Calaveras, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bret Harte at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
