Basketball Game Preview: Scripps Ranch Falcons vs. El Capitan Vaqueros

The Scripps Ranch Falcons are taking a road trip to face off against the El Capitan Vaqueros at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Scripps Ranch will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

If El Capitan heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Scripps Ranch took over last week. Scripps Ranch took down Morse 62-46 on Friday.

Clare Valentine continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. Her evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ree Ree Davis, who posted 13 points and five steals.

Scripps Ranch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, El Capitan unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Grossmont 44-38.

Scripps Ranch pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for El Capitan, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 19-4.

Scripps Ranch strolled past El Capitan when the teams last played back in April of 2021 by a score of 58-39. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was El Capitan's Mackenzie Curtis, who put up 25 points along with eight steals and seven boards.
