The Eastlake Titans on the road again on Saturday and play against the Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots at 10:30 a.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Eastlake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Monday.
Eastlake suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Monday. They fell just short of Mira Mesa by a score of 49-47.
Mia Jones put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 16 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Helen Rosales, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Eastlake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mira Mesa only pulled down two offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Academy of Our Lady of Peace's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 45-25 loss at the hands of Christian. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Academy of Our Lady of Peace has suffered since December 27, 2023.
Eastlake's record now sits at 11-10. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-14.
Eastlake and Academy of Our Lady of Peace were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but Eastlake came up empty-handed after a 54-53 loss. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Academy of Our Lady of Peace's Jillian Nowicki, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
