Turkeyfoot Valley Area was dealt a 56-29 loss at the hands of the Tigers. Turkeyfoot Valley Area was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-6.
Turkeyfoot Valley Area lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Maleigha Younkin, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Younkin has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jessica Pepe, who scored five points.
Union's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophie Carr, who scored 27 points along with two steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carr has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chanelle Sutton, who scored seven points along with 15 rebounds and five assists.
This is the second loss in a row for Turkeyfoot Valley Area and nudges their season record down to 7-9. As for Union, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Turkeyfoot Valley Area will be playing in front of their home fans against the Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ferndale is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Union, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully East Hardy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Monday.
