It was a good run, but the Rancho Cotate Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Windsor. Rancho Cotate was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Windsor apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Reese Hackamack, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and two steals. Hackamack is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Xenia Zabaneh was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Rancho Cotate's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Windsor, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rancho Cotate will challenge Healdsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Healdsburg is on a three-game streak of home wins, Rancho Cotate a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Windsor, they will head out on the road to square off against Piner at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
