Etiwanda and Rancho Cucamonga are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Cougars at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with five losses in a row, Etiwanda turned things around against Dana Hills on Tuesday. They blew past the Dolphins 13-6. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Angel Mejia and Lj Roellig did most of the damage at the plate: Mejia went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Roellig went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs Roellig has posted since back in February of 2025. Jaxson Milius also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Rancho Cucamonga was able to grind out a solid win over Ramona on Tuesday, taking the game 7-2. That five-run margin sets a new team best for the Cougars this season.
Grant Thomas was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Trevor Newman, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Rancho Cucamonga was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ramona only posted a batting average of .167.
Etiwanda's record now sits at 2-5. As for Rancho Cucamonga, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Etiwanda might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Rancho Cucamonga in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
