Modoc hasn't had much luck against Etna recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Braves will host the Lions at 2:00 p.m. The last four games Modoc has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Things were looking good for Modoc after they put the first run on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Mt. Shasta by a score of 4-3.
Meanwhile, Etna waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Emmett Stacher made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kyle Fowle was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Ashton Elam was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Etna was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Etna pushed their record up to 14-6 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Modoc, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.
